Slay Me
Score Entertainment was looking to expand their target audience a bit when they acquired the Buffy the Vampire Slayer license and created the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Collectible Card Game.
The game, and corresponding site were designed for a much older audience than their Dragon Ball Z card game. The target audience was also mainly...female. The show had created a loyal following of fans and Score knew that's where their core customers would be coming from.
Another challenge about the perspective game audience is that they would most likely have no collectible card game experience. So Score would have to introduct them to the concept.
So to help promote this new upcoming game, we created a downloadable Buffy Trivia Game in Flash. But we took the traditional 'trivia' game a bit further and incorporated other elements into the game like selecting a team of players from characters in the show, each with specific stats and each character effected the game in a special way. We also made the game a bit more competitive by making it a two player game.
All this was done to promote the game early in the development process before the game had been produced. It got the word out about the game and introduced the target market to basic elements of a collectible card game.
